I can't use this cover. It doesn't work. First it damages the Kindle separating the front and back of the unit and in doing so it bends the cover attachment probes that insert into the Kindle.
From reading other reviews this supposedly happens only when you incorrectly open the cover. Frankly I have been unable to find a correct way to open the cover!
It does not serve its intended purpose and I do not recommend this product.

Item is necessary. One would expect Amazon to have this as a statndard item for the very expensive DX.
Keep gouging the customers. I am happy that the Sony competition has kicked in and I will enjoy the price wars.

I was hoping that the cover would live up to the cost! It definitely did, and then some. The cover fits great and protects the Kindle very well.

Nice quality leather cover will help to keep my Kindle DX clean, prevent screen from getting scratched if something is placed on top of it and hopefully prevent breakage if it's dropped. I would like it better if it had a tab that could hold the cover together when closed, or a zipper. A little padding in the top cover might also help for protection.

I find it difficult to attach the cover and now I see that it appears the top clip on the cover is prying the Kindle apart! HELP!
