 "kindel dx leather cover" 2009-11-11
By P. Sheeran
This cover is easy to connect to the dx and seems to protect the face of the kindle well.

Ir is smart looking and easy to handle but I wonder how long it's center binding will hold.

A pocket on the left hand side to hold other papers would have been useful.

I also feel it is a bit costly.

 "Nice looking but--Design flawed" 2009-11-11
By K. Porter (C'ville, VA USA)
I pre-ordered the DX last spring with this cover. The cover is well built but has a design flaw--it cracks the DX housing if you inadvertently open the wrong side. I went through (2) Kindle's (cracked housings) before Amazon refunded my money for the cover, as well as replacing the Kindle. They were very upfront with replacements & quick to respond, kudos to Amazon. I suggest you consider another cover for your DX and save yourself some aggravation, and money. I'm now on my 3rd Kindle using the OCTO Faux Leather Slip Cover--it works beautifully & costs $30. I highly recommend that cover.

"A Well Designed and Made Cover" 2009-11-09
By Dave Avis (Beautiful East Texas)
This cover has served me very well. I'm glad I bought it. It is well constructed and the hidden fasteners just slip easily into the Kindle. I like the magnets which keep the over from flopping open. When my wife buys her Kindle, I'm going to recommend she get one to protect hers too!

"Do not buy - almost broke my kindle" 2009-11-06
By A. Ford
As soon as I attached my kindle, I noticed that the upper left prong did not fit properly, and was causing the case on my brand new kindle to bulge!!!!

Do not buy this product. There have been many reports of this cover causing the kindle to break.

 "Be Afraid...Be Very Afraid" 2009-11-06
By Marc G. Snyder (Baltimore, Maryland)
I ordered this cover with my Kindle DX and they both arrived at the same time. I put my new Kindle in the cover, and for a few weeks, loved everything about it. I have since purchased five other covers (all what would be considered nice ($30-$50) and yet I like the Amazon cover the best - with one major exception.

When I received one of my "alternate" covers, I went to take trhe Kindle out of the Amazon cvover and that is when the problem began. I won't go into specifics but suffice it to say that the Amazon cover cracks the Kindle. I'm not sure why this has not been corrected yet. My guess is that there are alot of people who are happily using the cover and have no idea that when and if they ever want to take their Kindle out, things will go downhill fast. As each person gets to this point, more and more complaints will surely surface.

The shame is that I really like this cover. I have a few covers from M-Edge. They have nice leather covers and a pocket and pen holder. Yet, they are so much bigger than the Amazon. The Amazon cover is the smallest yet by far and fits so much better in all of my bags. It's magnetic latch makes opening and closing much better than having to keep sliding a leather thing into place every time.

Still, the Amazon does not provide a place to hook up a light, and as mentioned, no place for any pockets or pens. Even so, if the thing didn't break my Kindle, I would have stayed with it.

So, Amazon: Please fix this problem. The Kindle is a great product and now with more and more competition, it is not the time to have such a serious and growing problem. Anyone who has not yet found their Amazon cover to be causing these problems, only have a matter of time before they fall victim.

Bottom line: The cover is the best I have used in terms of size, materials, and operation. BUT IT CRACKS THE KINDLE!

So, please do not buy this cover until Amazon fixes this problem. And if you are currently using this cover and have not noticed a problem, try to remove your Kindle. If it starts to crack yours as well, please come back and submit a review. Hopefully Amazon will finally correct things.

"Cover Looks Good but Be Careful" 2009-11-04
By Chazy Man (Chazy, NY USA)
Protecting the Kindle screen is very important and this does the job. After opening, the cover can be folded completely back so that it is easy to hold and the felt lining inside is comfortable to hold when open.

The biggest problem is that if you are not careful and accidentally open from the backside you can very easily break the metal clip at the top "binding" that attaches the cover to the Kindle. Then you have a complete loss for a pretty expensive (really pretty overpriced) item. The front cover has an Amazon label at the bottom right and you have to train yourself to look for that before you open it or be sensitive to the slight feel of resistance if you try to open from the back.

 "DX Cover" 2009-11-01
By Douglas E. Wood (Kings, IL)
I like the cover. It appears to provide protection on the Kindle screen. With cover folded it also acts as support so that you need not hold the Kindle. The only draw back lack of a storage place for the charger cable and ear buds. But would recommend it for the protection that it offers.
