"Kindle DX the MOST Fantastic Unit - A Must Have" 2009-09-10
By Sharon L. Dragonetti (Southern California)
The Kindle DX is extremely easy to use and easy to read. Within 10 minutes I had gone through the instructions and ordered my first 16 books, a few of them FREE. The others were at minimum $2 less than Costco's prices. It's easy to hold; it returns to previous pages or items quickly; the print is perfect for tired eyes, but can be changed easily too. The dictionary is terrific. I seldom need it, but when I do, phew, it's thorough. The only problem that I've found so far is that I'm using Waaaay too much and will have to also buy my husband and son one each as I don't like to share!

"It is a big deal" 2009-09-10
By Michael L. Maddin
A number of people have covered the DX's shortcomings in relation to pdf support, lack of folders for organization, lack of ePub support, etc, all of which are problems that need to be addressed. However, while several of the reviews that I read mention that there is no "next page" button on the left, the reviewers tend to say things like "It may not seem like a big deal.."

In fact, for me it was a deal breaker. I am right-handed and hold my book in my left hand, leaving the right hand free for coffee cups, sandwiches, note taking, or whatever. Examine your reading handedness carefully before ordering, because for all practical purposes the DX requires that you hold it in your right hand, assuming that you don't have to hold it in both hands because of the size.

The Kindle 2's button layout is transparent to the user - I'll wait 'til Amazon gets the buttons right on the DX.

 "Kinkle DX" 2009-09-10
By J. Matlock (Hays, KS)
I love my Kindle. While I prefer the convenience of the Kindle 2's size... I chose the DX for the screen size. It's a bit heavy, but O.K. and I worried about the inconvenience of the buttons, but it is so simple to just turn the device upside down and rotate the script. I am able to access the internet when I don't have my laptop with me. I wish there was a way to zoom in on PDF documents I've downlosded, as the print is awfully small for my poor, aging eyes, but again... it's tolerable. I would like to keep more reference books on my Kindle, but the awkwardness of not being able to jump to a further chapter or page without knowing its location beforehand is a deterrent. I like to be able to skim through reference books to find my information I am seeking and that is cumbersome with the Kindles. I hope someday they will be able to allow the reader to jump to a chapter from the table of contents in all the books. But, overall, I love having a selection of books at my fingertips without carrying a bagful of books.
