The keyboard is inoperable because of size. For left handed people the design is impossibly difficult. I love the concept though. Now all I need is Apple to design it's version.

The cover is nice and sturday and I cannot imagine having the Kindle DX without having the cover for protection.

I bought this kindle dx leather cover along with kindle dx, because I knew that I needed something to protect this high priced reader. After receiving both, I inserted the cover as directed into the slots along the edge of my brand new kindle.
One month later I noticed that the white frame, on the front of the kindle is elevated near the upper tab. After a few days a small crack developed near the tab.
Fearing that the whole screen is going to damage, I called Amazon, who has excellent return/replace policy. They sent me a new kindle and I am sending the old one back. As per the cover... I would still use it but never going to insert the tabs into the slots. May just stick the back of the kindle to with a velcro of some kind. Or just forget it and get me a slip case of some kind.

The leather cover for the Kindle DX is well worth the money! It protects the kindle when you are not using it, and looks great too! I would recommend that anyone buying a Kindle DX spend the few extra dollars and get the leather cover for it.

This is an attractive cover for your Kindle, but watch out, it will cause a crack in the device's casing near the attach points -- at least it did for me and many others in this comment forum. It's a serious design flaw, and I'm frankly surprised that Amazon is continuing to promote and sell this item. The good news here is that Amazon is replacing my damaged Kindle. This is the right thing to do, and I really appreciate it, but it certainly would have been better if it didn't cause cracking in the first place.
If the design flaw were fixed, this cover would receive a very high rating from me b/c on the whole it is a very nice, simple, and sturdy cover. I used it happily for a month or two before having to get rid of it.
