 "Exactly as advertized" 2009-10-08
By Trebor (Tennessee)
I am very happy with my Kindle DX. I have owned it for about 6 months now and have read about a dozen books on it and I am now sold on the idea of e-ink. I carefully read through all the specifications for it before I purchased it and I have to say that it is exactly what it is advertised to be. For that reason I have to give it 5 stars. Also I found that by turning off the wireless and the auto rotate feature, the battery lasts a long time. I recommend it without reservation to anyone considering an e-ink reading device.

"Love my Kindle - Suggestion" 2009-10-07
By George H. Brown (Peoria, IL)
I love my Kindle. I have had it since July and it has transformed my reading habits tremendously. I love it so much that I bought my wife one for her birthday - LAST WEEK! She loves her too so we are not even going to attempt to send it back to Amazon to get the $40.00 difference. I am sure there are many folks like us who purchased a new Kindle in the last 30 days so my suggestion to Amazon is send those that have a $20.00 gift certificate. With that they can purchase two books and you will have A LOT of happy customers.

"I love my Kindle DX and couldn't be happier" 2009-10-07
By J. Anderson (The City that Reads)
My husband purchased the Kindle DX for me for an anniversary gift and had it delivered to my work completely by surprised. I had no clue what was in the box because they took such care and gift wrapped it beautifully.

Anyhow, to the nuts and bolts. I've had my Kindle just about a month now and I cannot complain about anything. I'm a person who is constantly connected with laptops (2)and my beloved iphone. First I'm a rabid reader (10 steps beyond avid,k?) and I am a student. The information that I've downloaded thus far has been invaluable and I can't believe how useful this is. I don't have a particular obsession with PDF's, but emailed myself one just to try and voila! Perfection. I'm not such a technical guru that I want a book reader to do everything my computer can do so I'm not sensitive to those afflicted naysayers. I do apologize for that.

Currently, I am using my Kindle Dx in my A&P lab for reference and despite it being in black and white, my lab group loves it too. I take it everywhere and I guard it with my life, because all plastic is fragile and I don't want to ever experience a break. I would reccommend it to anyone who can afford the extravagance.

"question re audio aspect of DX" 2009-10-07
By Peter Holzer
I am not reviewing but asking pending a purchase.

I am an audio listener more than a reader, and walk and listen mostly.

1. does this DX lend itself to that enviornment

2. Is there a carrying case which can be pocketed or strapped on somehow

3. Are there enough audio books available in the store? what is their cost relative to CDs?

 "Exceeds Expectations" 2009-10-07
By FloridaLawyer (Naples, Florida)
Like many, I was put off by the high price for what can be described as a limited function B+W tablet. The 30-day trial period and an upcoming international flight to Asia made me give it a try. In brief, Kindle DX has revolutionized the long-haul travel experience! I was able to take a library's worth of books in the space of a magazine.

Its not intended to be like a computer monitor and it isn't. Its BETTER for actually reading--much more like a book page (and better than many books). The battery life (with wireless off) is exceptional. The Kindle library is large and growing and the downloading is only a few seconds. Excellent, high quality device and well implemented service.

Those who oppose electronic readers in general for whatever reason do this site a disservice by posting negative reviews. Kindle fulfills its promise admirably. As a busy attorney, I purchase online a lot and do not take time to write reviews on the vast majority of items (yes, I feel guilty, as the reviews here are extremely helpful). However once in a while a product comes along whose reviews appear to be inaccurately and unfairly affected.
